Drop down terminal
All desktops have some kind of dropdown installed
Plasma has yakuake.
Deepin has deepin-terminal.
Gnome and Budgie have guake.
All the rest rely on xfce4-terminal.
Adding a line in our current calamares installer so that
- IF there is internet
- IF user asked for nvidia installation
- IF online linux kernel is newer than iso kernel
then latest linux kernel will be installed as well.
The nvidia package is always build against a certain linux kernel and both should match.
Deleting the /etc/lightdm folder after an installation. Just cleaner – did not have any consequences
Less is more
ArcoLinuxD is not affected with the less is more idea we have done on ArcoLinux.
Less icons and less themes.

We are talking about packages that will add configs and settings inside your future .config folder
As a result all ArcoLinux, ArcoLinuxD and ArcoLinuxB scripts need to change.
Jump in calamares version from 3.2.10 to 3.2.15
Thanks to the great support of the Calamares team and Adriaan in particular we can now use the calamares application to get our vmlinux-linux kernel on the iso. This extra functionality is there for any Arch Linux distro out there.
The unpack module of Calamares has been changed so that ArcoLinux can use it to get the linux kernel at the right place, at the right time with the right name.
Changing calamares and its configuration has a huge impact (read workload) on ArcoLinux. At least 34 packages get changed by it.
Applications that have been dropped
Change from base group to base meta-package
Following packages are no longer installed
The normal updates and rebuild of calamares has been executed.
All developments after July iso release are included
All changes after the release of either 19.07.9 or 19.07.11 are now incorporated in 19.09.1
gtk-xfce-engine is gone
gtk-xfce-engine is no longer in the repositories. Provided themes with gtk2 support. Was never included on ArcoLinuxD iso. Bumping number together with ArcoLinux iso.
improvement on Archiso – buildprocess
- building scripts look awesome with some coloring – you know in what stage your are
- liveuser has no password anymore – possible to login in TTY on livedvd if needed
- more space on dvd to install packages to experiment with settings and applications
- mkinitcpio.conf – no modules i915 and nouveau
ArcoLinuxD LXQt has been created
As usual we started creating this new desktop LXQt from the ArcoLinuxD iso and then creating the ArcoLinuxB iso.
LXQt uses openbox as session for the windows so we started with Arco-Openbox and changed the scripts to our need to create
git clone https://github.com/arcolinuxd/arco-lxqt
More info on the beta page of ArcoLinuxB.
We are using the Calamares 3.2.8 release.
You can read about it here.
We have used this release to work on our configs (including ArcoLinuxB) as well.
Dialog has been added for those who connect via wifi-menu to the network.
Changes in Arcolinux affect also ArcoLinuxD
- Getting rid of the two xfce related wallpapers in /usr/share/backgrounds/xfce after installation
- more screens for wallpaper in xfce
